Next Book: The Secrets of Cern

The title of the next book I am writing in the Series The Second age of Steam gives a strong hint of what to expect next but there is many a slip between cup and lip. Set ten years later from the first book, we see Henry as an established authority on electricity, with his own purpose built lecture hall. However, his almost celebrity status has rankled with the powers that be and sabotage sees Henry once again struggling to find answers and stay alive.

This second book will have a more darker tone, bordering on spy mystery, as the different factions of society pit their wits against each other for supremacy. It is a situation not helped by the impending pan-European war brewing on the Belgian border. Politics and power are a dangerous mix, especially when that power is held by the richest families in Europe. Henry and his fellow scientists find themselves caught in the middle of this struggle; with governments wanting the kind of advanced weaponry that only electricity can provide, pitted against the old guard of the aristocracy determined to suppress its use.

Henry needs to discover whatever secrets are held at Cern before they are destroyed forever but at what cost to humanity. Could these secrets herald another Great Event more terrible than the last. What would be the punishment if humanity raises its head again.
